Give thanks!

As I was pacing around my house last night I decided to pull out some Thanksgiving decor. Thanksgiving has quickly become one of my favorite holidays ... quite possibly because the Beau hit one knee on Thanksgiving night in 2006 (I will share pictures with you one day). Today, I will share some of my favorite Thanksgiving things:

I bought these 2 platters at Swoozie's right after Thanksgiving last year for 50% off so this is the first year I have been able to use them. It was like pulling out brand new presents last night ... don't you love it when that happens??!! So cute, so festive, SO CHEAP!

I absolutely love these ... they are squash, gourds and assorted fall fruits (or are they vegetables) that are actually candles. They are gorgeous when they are lit but I couldn't get a clear picture of them while they were burning. I ordered these from Williams-Sonoma last year and I like them so much that I am afraid to light them too often because I don't want them to lose their shape!

I picked this soap up the other day from Bath & Body Works for only $3. That is as cheap as you can buy Dial from Wal-Mart. The scent is Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin and it smells soo good. I want to wash my hands every five minutes just so I can sniff 'em!

For some reason I have been really in to candles lately. Pumpkin Pie from Yankee Candle smells just like the real thing ~ and since I have no idea how to cook the real thing ...

This, my friends, is worth $10. I ran in to a Williams-Sonoma while I was in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago and knew I had to have whatever it was that smelled so yummy. It was Mulling Spice! I haven't used it to make cider yet but if you put just a teaspoon of the spices in a pot with boiling water it will make your entire house smell just like the holidays!

UPDATE: We finally made a decision to spend Thanksgiving with the Beau's family and we will spend Christmas with my family. I am totally fine with it and I am open to beginning new holiday traditions. I picked up these cups and napkins at Swoozie's to take as a little gift when we visit at Thanksgiving ... cause I am a sweet daughter-in-law like that :)

I also saw these fill-in-the-blank cups (but didn't purchase them) and thought they would be cute if you were going to a Thanksgiving celebration with lots of kiddos!

Is there anything special that you love about Thanksgiving ... I love getting new ideas??!!

I also quickly wanted to say that we all have so much to be thankful for and despite last night's election (that did, in fact, leave me saddened) when it all comes down to it this is what I believe:

You're the God of this city, You're the King of these people, You're the Lord of this Nation!

xoxo~

I was also lured into William Sonoma thanks to the mulling spices--a perfect taste of fall. For a cheap fall candle, check out Wal-Mart's Home Trends brand candle in Mulled Cider. The big candle is $5 and smells amazing.

Love those cups! What a clever idea. I love Williams Sonoma as well. I spend too much money there, though.

My hubby dropped to one knee Thanksgiving of 2005 in Egypt! I'm so glad to see someone else shares the same love for Thanksgiving that I do! :)

Your blog is so cute! I always enjoy reading it! I just noticed a few pictures you posted in a prior blog. In one picture you are wearing an Athens High School Sweatshirt. Where did you get it? The only reason I ask is because in college my husband and his friends worked at Bulldog Sporting Goods in Athens, and they always made random shirts with old logos and designs-that is the only time I have ever seen that shirt. Did you have a friend that worked at Bulldog Sporting Goods too?

I love the clear cups! What a great idea... and the idea could be used for more than turkey day... play a game and have the kids write answers on them instead of just their name because everyone else does that! Thanks for sharing.
