The fun's over - I am ready to hibernate!

I hope that you all had yourselves a merry little Christmas. We sure did and I am sad that it over ... I always am. I am really dreading taking all the decor down ... everything is going to look so bare! I guess everyone still has New Year's Eve to look forward to but I have never been a huge fan of the holiday. In past years there has always been such a hype about NYE plans and it always was a little bit of a let down. This year I think the Beau and I are going to stay home, have dinner, and ring in the New Year from the comfort of our couch. Maybe as the clock approaches midnight I will turn on the Sex and the City movie to the part where Auld Lang Syne plays - it was such a pretty version!

There is not too much going on for us in January so I would be content to hibernate during the entire month. I have just the tools to keep me busy! I didn't get Marcia Brady's new book for Christmas but I did get these ...

I finished Prep last night and it was soo good and soo addicting. I received the first 2 Twilight books and I am saving those for Monday when I report for Jury Duty! I will probably start sTori Telling tonight.

For book club we are reading Redeeming Love during the months of January and February (we extended it for 2 months because it is a longer book). I just ordered it from Amazon today and I am ready to get started! I have heard such wonderful things about this book and I think it will be a good one to have discussions about.

While I was perusing Amazon I put these in my basket - I haven't ordered them yet but I plan to soon. A few of them I have been wanting for awhile and others I had never heard of before but I am sure, from the titles, they will be right up my alley!

All by Celia Rivenbark ...

1. We're Just Like You, Only Prettier: Confessions of a Tarnished Southern Belle

2. Stop Dressing your Six-Year-Old Like a Skank: A Slightly Tarnished Southern Belle's Words of Wisdom

3. Bless your Heart, Tramp: and other Southern Endearments

4. Not Tonight, Honey ... Wait 'til I'm a Size 6 by Susan Reinhardt

5. Somebody is going to Die if Lilly Beth doesn't Catch that Bouquet by Gayden Metcalfe & Charlotte Hays

6. Don't Sleep with a Bubba ... Unless your Eggs are in Wheelchairs by Susan Reinhardt (this one is in honor of my bf Fran - love you dear)

So, I think that is enough to keep me busy for at least a month. Anything else that you can think of that I should add to my list?

xoxo~

I have Redeeming Love and have needed to read for a long time. Is your book club thru your blog or in real-world? I would love to read along... I'm looking for some force to make me read the whole thing!

I cannot agree with you more about New Year's!!!!! It *seems* like it should be this huge celebration but it always ends up being boring/annoying/lame. I don't think I've ever had a New Year's Eve where I really had an amazing time...obviously not, since I can't remember any! I've tried to ask a few friends what they are doing this year, and I've gotten Zero responses, so screw it - I think we'll be on the couch with a movie as well :)

I cannot wait for you to read Twilight... I'm halway through the 4th book now and I love it. It's a little drama-filled... maybe too much for me, but that's what makes it interesting I guess. :)

And Redeeming Love is one of my most favorite books! You will LOVE it! I want to read it again {I think I've read it 3 times now...} It's great... and I cried a lot. Be prepared.

Redeeming Love is the best book I have ever read. It takes some time in the beginning to get through but it is totally worth it. You will love it.

The Twilight series is by far the best set of books I have read in a longggg time. I read them all in FOUR days over our Thanksgiving road trip. You must also see the movie, but only after you read the books. ... For something a little different, but funny and easy to read, try "Are You There God, It's Me Vodka" by Chelsea Handler. She is a nutcase. =0)

I don't know if you've read anything by Jennifer Lancaster but she is hilarious! The first one is Such A Pretty Fat. Also, books by Emily Giffin are awesome. You should start with Something Borrowed!

I came across your blog from Newlywed Stilettos. I am a big reader and love to read all kinds of books. Have you ever read any of Jodi Picoult, she is amazing. Try My Sisters Keeper by her...you won't be able to put it down. Also A Wink at Midnight by Sandra Dorsett. Shes a friend of my mother and so far the book is so good. I can't put it down. Thanks for the reading list.

I'm in the process of reading Prep right now. The same author recently released American Wife, and it was fantastic!

Also, there is another Southern Lifestyle book you may like, it's by the same authors who wrote the book entitled Will Someone Throw LillyBeth the Bouquet except that it is about funerals.

I just came across your blog clicking through others. Stori Telling was great if you watch her show and Redeeming Love is hands down one of the best books I've ever read...so good I gave it a post of its very own on my blog!

stori telling was really fun, too.

ALL of Celia's books are absolutely hilarious... She reminds me of "that friend" that all of our moms had that would say whatever was on her mind... Yanno, sweetly southern, but has a mouth of a sailor!

I loved Prep when I read it a few years ago.

The Bless Your Heart Tramp and Stop Dressing Your Six Year Old Like a Tramp were two that my mom got me started on. I absolutely loved those and was laughing to the point I cried for the majority of the books.
